Travel Insurance Information
Travel Insurance covers you if you need to cancel for an
unforseen reason such as accident, injury, sickness, or death of
you, a traveling companion, or a family member not traveling with
you. Most cruise lines, airlines, tours, etc. - have very stiff
penalties for canceling your trip. Travel insurance protects you
from this.
As notated on page 2 of your US Passport, most HMO's, PPO's,
Medicare, Medicaid, and other health insurance does not cover you
outside of the country - even in a life threatening emergency. Many
foreign hospitals may not treat you for emergency care without proof
of ability to pay your bill in full at the time of treatment. Travel
Insurance also covers you for emergency medical and dental when your
outside of the country, and onboard cruise ships.
Travel Insurance also covers you for flight
delays, missed connections, lost/stolen baggage, baggage delays,
inclement weather that prevents you from making your trip, and more.
Travel Insurance can also cover you for hotel and meals in forced
overnight cities not part of your travel package.
Before
turning down travel insurance - keep in mind that $350 per
person of your cruise fare is nonrefundable. Also keep in mind
the Gothic Cruise generaly sails during hurricane seasons. Travel insurance covers
costs incurred by hurricane conditions as well
as other weather related obstacles. This includes hotel costs in the
event weather conditions cause you to miss your scheduled flights and you
need to delay your departure home.
